At Crimson Sails, we do things a bit differently—and proudly so. One of our favorite long-standing traditions is the use of Colors of Consent: a playful, visual way for our crew to signal their intentions, boundaries, and curiosities throughout the weekend.
Just as ships of old hoisted flags and pennants to communicate from afar, we use ribbons, bright trinkets, and creative accessories to express what we’re open to. You’ll spot them woven into costumes, tied to belts or swords, pinned to hats, or even dangling from earrings. These colors spark connection and help start meaningful conversations—without anyone needing to break character or feel awkward.
This isn’t about labeling yourself. It’s about sharing a little signal that says, “Here’s what I might enjoy—come chat with me.”
Here’s what our colors say:

So bring your colors, wear them proudly, and let them fly as part of the living tapestry of the weekend. They’re part of how we play, how we connect, and how we make this event feel like home for everyone who comes aboard.
But take heed: a color is not consent. It does not grant permission—it merely opens the door for respectful conversation. Consent still requires a clear and hearty “Aye!”
